Serie A round-up
Napoli close gap as Roma clash is abandoned
Napoli moved back to within four points of leaders Milan after convincing 4-0 win over Sampdoria.
And the Naples hero of the day was Uruguayan Edinson Cavani, who helped himself to a hat-trick.
Cavani grabbed a first-half brace before Marek Hamsik added a third just after the break.
Cavani completed his treble on the hour to seal a comfortable win for Walter Mazzarri’s men.
Roma missed the chance to go third as their match at Bologna was abandoned after just 18 minutes due to heavy snow.
With Roma not finishing, Inter Milan moved into fourth ahead after claiming a 3-2 win over Palermo, although Leonardo’s men had to come from 2-0 down.
Goals from Fabrizio Miccolo and Antonio Nocerino put the Sicily outfit up at the break, but an inspired change helped Inter back into the game.
Giampaolo Pazzini, who only joined from Sampdoria this week, came on at the interval and scored a brace to level matters before Samuel Eto’o won the game from the penalty spot.
The bottom three remain the same as Cesena, Brescia and Bari all failed to win.
Cesena were the only team in the drop zone to avoid defeat as they claimed a 1-1 draw at fourth from bottom Lecce.
Daniele Corvia’s early goal looked to have won it for Lecce, but Erjon Bogdani grabbed a last-minute leveller.
Second-from-bottom Brescia were well beaten 3-0 at home by Chievo, who climb into the top half of the table.
A double from Sergio Pellissier sandwiched an effort from Davide Mandelli to give the Flying Donkeys their comfortable win.
Basement side Bari failed to get anything from their trip to Sardinia as Cagliari claimed a 2-1 victory.
An early Alessandro Matri brace sealed the success with Bari replying through Stefano Okaka.
Genoa eased their relegation fears with a 3-1 win over Parma at the Luigi Ferraris.
Rodrigo Palacio’s penalty put Genoa ahead before Hernan Crespo levelled for the visitors.
Gabriel Palletta’s own goal put Parma back ahead before Kakha Kaladze’s goal won it for Genoa.
