Milan striker Alexandre Pato is desperate to return in time for Saturday’s potentially title-deciding derby with Internazionale.

The Brazil international has been out for several weeks with an ankle injury but, with star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic suspended, the Serie A leaders will be short of firepower for the crucial match.

“I still have a little problem with my left ankle, but I think and I want it to be in place for the derby,” Pato told Vanity Fair.

“It’s too important. Last year was a bad year from an injuries point of view. But now, thanks to God, it’s all in place.”

After a poor start to the season Inter are now only two points behind the Rossoneri, and a win at the San Siro would take them top.
