La Liga – Alves keeping options open
Barcelona full-back Dani Alves has said that he will keep his options open as he nears the end of his contract with Barcelona.
The Brazilian’s contract at the Nou Camp expires in June 1012, but he has been linked in the press with a potential big-money move to Manchester City.
And the 27-year-old has admitted that while he his happy with the Catalan giants, he will not close his mind to other possibilities.
“My priority is Barcelona, but I cannot close doors,” he told Portuguese paper A Bola. “I fell happy, but both sides have to agree.”
Alves also took the opportunity to criticise Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, claiming that his arrogance diminishes him as a player – particularly by comparison with Barca’s Lionel Messi.
“To be the best player in the world you don’t just have to play well, you also need to be liked by people, and I understand sometimes his attitude damages a little the great player he really is,” he said.
“I think the best player in the world should be a quiet kid, humble, friendly…and (Lionel) Messi has all that, while Cristiano often lacks these qualities.” ( soccer news )
