Klose to continue at top level, in Munich or elsewhere
Berlin – Germany striker Miroslav Klose will decide on his Bayern Munich future based on the plans of new coach Jupp Heynckes, but aims to continue playing top level club football.
Klose, 32, told Saturday’s edition of the Sueddeutsche Zeitung that he can imagine a move abroad if he is to remain a reserve player at the reigning Bundesliga champions.
Klose is a Germany regular with 106 caps and 59 goals ahead of a Euro 2012 qualifier against Kazakhstan set for later Saturday. But he has rarely played in Munich since Louis van Gaal took charge in 2009 because the Dutchman fields only one striker and prefers Mario Gomez.
Heynckes will take over next season. Klose said he will decide based on Heynckes’ plans whether or not to renew his contract which expires on June 30.
‘A new chapter will start with Jupp Heynckes and the club leadership will surely talk about personnel with him soon,’ said Klose.
‘Everything is possible at a high level. I am fit, football is not yet an ordeal. Everything is possible, including a move abroad.’
Klose said he received several offers during the January transfer window. He did not dismiss speculation that the interested clubs included Spanish giants Real Madrid, saying only he will keep it to himself.
Klose has also been linked with Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund, who are all but certain to make the Champions League and will need to bolster their roster for the elite event.
