Borussia Dortmund are 11 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Werder Bremen on Saturday.

The league leaders went ahead after just nine minutes thanks to an inch-perfect free-kick from Nuri Sahin.

Kagawa was on hand to score his eighth goal of the season, and Dortmund’s second in the 70th minute, volleying home after Werder’s goalkeeper Tim Wiese parried a shot from Jakub Blaszczykowski.

Bayer Leverkusen moved up to second place after a comprehensive 4-2 victory at Hamburg.

Former Hamburg striker Sidney Sam opened the scoring for Leverkusen on the half hour before Hamburg were gifted an equalizer as Arturo Vidal who put the ball in his own net minutes after the half-time break.

But the Chilean soon made up for his error scoring at the other end in the 61st minute.

Five minutes later Renato Augusto doubled the visitors lead and grabbed a second 12 minutes before the end.

Hamburg’s Eljero Elia made the scoreline look more respectable a minute later, but the result was never in doubt.

Leverkusen now have 32 points from their 16 games.

Bayern Munich bounced back from 2-0 defeat to Schalke last weekend, beating St Pauli 3-0 at the Allianz Arena to move up to fifth in the table.

Hamit Altintop opened the scoring for Bayern after 16 minutes with a fine long-range drive.

But the home fans had to wait until the 72nd minute to be certain of the three points as St Pauli keeper Thomas Kessler was shown a red card for his challenge on Thomas Mueller.

Philipp Lahm stepped up to convert the spot kick and Franck Ribery made it 3-0 10 minutes from full time.

Wolfsburg recorded their fifth consecutive draw (0-0) against Kaiserslautern, who were unlucky not to bag all three points after creating the better chances throughout the match.

Hoffenheim and Nuernberg also shared the points in a 1-1 draw at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena. A header from Marvin Compper in the 55th minute put the hosts ahead, but Nuremberg salvaged a draw three minutes before the end when Christian Eigler scored.

Cologne move up to 16th place in the table after beating mid-table Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0. Christian Clemens’ goal after 56 minutes was enough to beat the visitors who fought in vain to equalize in the closing minutes of the match.

In Sunday’s games, Freiburg host Monchengladbach, while Mainz will move up to second place if they beat Schalke. (soccer news)
